almost halloween

Wow...can't believe Halloween is this Friday! I'm not doing anything exciting, just handing candy out to kids at our house if we have any trick-or-treaters.

We might go see The Texas Chainsaw Massacre late on Friday night. EEEK! Scary! I love scary movies.

So what is everyone else doing for Halloween??

I really like this holiday, but for some reason I have never made a big deal of it. I haven't dressed up in costume since I was about 12 or 13 I think. Maybe if Cory & I get a bigger house sometime in the next few years we will have a big Halloween party. Woohoo.

I never dressed up as anything too exciting for Halloween....as I kid I dressed up as a clown (Ick! I hate clowns!), an Ewok, a kitty, a witch (several times), a 50's girl, a bunny, and I think a devil. There might have been a few other costumes but I can't recall at the moment.

I will have to see if I can find some photos of myself in costume.

hurray

I'm going home from work early today! Yahooo!! Usually I get out of here anywhere between 5:00 PM and 6:00 PM...but today I am leaving at 3:00! I already have almost 2 hours of overtime this week and I know I will have to stay late tomorrow, so I figured I would leave early today because my company really doesn't like to pay overtime. Yup, they are bastards.

So, I think I will take Delilah for a walk even though it's really cold out today & I keep seeing little snow flurries flitting past my window. Then I am going to clean my house like a mad woman. I really need to find a way to get organized...I barely have any storage space in my house so I just have boxes & piles of crap everywhere.

Well, I don't have much else to write about today....life has been pretty quiet & boring this week. So...off I go. Only 15 minutes until I can go home! YAY!

can you say... BUSY?

Man, this is getting out of hand. Everytime I say I am going to try to update my blog more often I end up blogging even LESS! It's once again almost been a week since my last post. This new job I am doing really sucks up most of my day and I don't usually go online at home on weeknights to update. I also haven't had a chance to change the layout as you can see. Soon....soon...I hope!

This weekend I was visiting with my grandmother & 2 aunts from Massachusetts & one of my cousins who lives in Maine. They drove out to NY on Saturday and they are leaving today. It was nice to visit with them....I only see them usually once or maybe twice every year. On Saturday we just hung out & visited with them at my mom's house and yesterday we went to an antiques store, another apple orchard, and out to lunch.

After that one of my aunts wanted to get her ears pierced for the first time in her life (she is over 50!) so she got that done while I watched in horror! I have never had (nor do I plan to ever have) my ears or anything else on me pierced. Eeek...just grosses me out. I think if I were to get anything pierced it would either be my eyebrow or my bellybutton (if my belly were worthy of a bellybutton ring...but in the state it's in now..definitely not!).

So....that's been my life for the past week...working & visiting & playing tour guide to my relatives. I would say that I will try to post more often...but I think then I would just jinx myself!

still busy

I have really been neglecting this blog lately. :(

It's not that I don't want to write, I just have been so busy with work & stuff that I haven't had a chance to update. I haven't had much to write about anyway since all I have been doing is working and working some more!

On Sunday we went to Altamont Orchards (an apple orchard) and bought a gallon of apple cider. Yummy! I have been wanting some more since the Apple Festival. Cory wanted to get some apple fritter mix stuff. He tried making it when we got home but it turns out the mix isn't really like normal apple fritters - it was more like a pancake around an apple ring. The apples didn't cook all the way through either so we were kind of dissapointed in those. I have a recipe for iced pumpkin cookies that I want to try making sometime soon. Hopefully they will come out better than my last baking fiasco (if anyone remembers the cupcakes & raspberry squares incident a few months ago!).

I have been saying forever that I was going to change my layout...and I still haven't had a chance to do that. I am going to try with all of my might to do that sometime this week..maybe even today.....maybe I will go start right now! I am just really bored with this layout. I have had it since I created my blog in January and it's just so blah.

Well....I think I am going to go do some more research so I don't screw up my blog too much when I change the layout!

busy girl

Wow, it's been almost a week since I last posted!! So much for trying to update more often! I have been so busy at work this week though. I had to learn a new job since one of my coworkers quit, so this new job has been occupying most of my time since I am still learning, so I have to keep running around asking people questions & stuff. So far things are ok though, and I think I have the hang of it for the most part.

The Apple Festival was fun. We were there from around 11:30 AM until 4:30 PM on Saturday to help my dad with his booth and also from 11:00 AM until 6:00 PM on Sunday. Saturday was rainy gross weather, lucky for us my dad's booth was inside a big building. Sunday was nice weather but it was FREEZING! I did get to have hot apple cider though..yum! Saturday was a really slow day because of the weather, not many people came out. Sunday was insanely busy though, my dad sold quite a few lanterns & mirrors. Woohoo! It was fun helping pack up at then end of the day on Sunday. The festival ended at 5:00 PM so we stayed to help him load his truck. It was kinda cool being "behind the scenes" seeing all of the booths come down and what was just an hour before a busy crowded building filled with crafts & stuff quickly became just a big huge empty barn! Spiffy! I told my dad I would definitely work for him at art/craft shows in the future.

Izan left a comment asking about the Apple Festival. I have only been to one of these festivals, a few years ago, so I don't know too much about them or why or how they got started. This particular one is run by one of the local apple orchards (there are quite a few of those in upstate NY!) and according to their website this was the 11th annual apple festival. We got to walk around a little bit when we took breaks but I noticed there surprisingly wasn't much "apple stuff" there! Of course there were vendors selling apple related food items, but there was nothing out of the ordinary. You would think an apple festival would have weird stuff like apple ice cream, apple cake, apple soda...ya know...just unusual stuff, but they didn't - they only had the usual apple pie, apple fritters, apple cider donuts (YUM!). It was basically just like a fair but they sell some apple related food, alas, no apple worshiping rituals or anything exciting of that sort.

If anyone is interested in going to some unusual food related festivals don't forget about The Pickle Festival that I blogged about a few months ago! That is rapidly approaching - November 23rd to be exact. Sadly, I don't think I will be making it to that one! :)

Oh shoot - I missed The Moxie Festival in Lisbon, Maine this summer! Don't know what Moxie is? That's ok, I think only people in New England know about it - it's horrible, horrible soda! Cory's family drinks it. When his grandparents come to visit from New Hampshire they always bring some Moxie for his dad. Cory has been lucky enough to attend the Moxie festival as a child! What a lucky kid he was, huh?! Hehehe.

apples & rocks

This weekend I am working at The Apple Festival & Craft Fair with my dad. He makes stone carvings & other decorative stone items - like stone lanterns with stained glass windows. They are very cool. I wish I was as talented as my dad!

So, anyway, that's what I will be doing most of the weekend, running his booth with him. The weather is supposed to be cold & crappy, luckily we will be inside!

If anyone happens to see me there - don't look for flaming red hair as it may appear in the photos below! It seems like everyday it fades more & more and now it just looks a dull brownish color most of the time. I'm sad! At first I was scared of my hair when I first dyed it - thought it was too bright - and now that it's fading I am sad! I am such a loon. It looks much more red in the sun, but indoors it just looks dull. Maybe I will dye it again. Ah..well. I think this blog has become entirely too focused on my hair lately! Ok enough of the hair talk for now!

Hope everyone has a good weekend. I will be freezing my ass off selling stone!! Hehehe.

happy october!

*To anyone who tried to access my photos yesterday but couldn't - I fixed the problem I think! I saved all of the files to a new VillagePhotos account. Yesterday when I posted the links here I also posted the links at another site I am a member of, so I guess there were just too many people viewing them, so I created a new account for posting the photos here, hopefully that way there won't be so many people accessing them in one day*

I can't believe September is just a thing of the past now. *sigh* I do like Fall a lot, but this week we are having really crappy weather - cold and rainy. This would be nice weather if it was sunny, but the rain makes everything gray & clammy & gross. I can't wait until the leaves start changing on the trees and we can go pick pumpkins! Yay!

I forgot to post this the other day - On Sunday morning I went to A.C. Moore all alone & I spent about 2 hours in there! I got a whole bunch of stuff & I only spent $10. I found a book that was in a $1 bin - but the book didn't really look like it belonged. I really wanted it though, so when I was ready to check out I asked the cashier how much it was because I had found it in a $1 bin, but didn't think that was the right price, so she only charged me a $1! I really think it was supposed to be full price though (around $15) so I felt a little bit bad - but hey, I scored an awesome book for $1! It's a children's book called Ginkgo and Moon and the reason I wanted it is because it has beautiful illustrations that I want to tear out & frame & hang on my walls! I love children's books!
